Bloggers and Instagram fakery

Yesterday and today my twitter feed has been full of people referencing to the latest blogging drama. It was to do with bloggers using bots on Instagram. The bots are meant to auto like, follow, unfollow and comment at an excessive rate which provides more exposure and will give you a better chance of gaining followers and likes.

I’ve seen tweets that indicate some people are really annoyed about it. I’d say I’m fairly unmoved but find it all quite interesting.

In my opinion the use of a bot can mean various things. Maybe you don’t feel like you have enough time to spend on Instagram or maybe your just looking for ways to help you grow your following. I think either way it means that you don’t care enough about finding your own way by putting in the effort to gain the desired results.

But at the end of the day not everybody is going to care as much as some people do. I could also relate this to buying followers. As bloggers it’s probably tempting to do, especially if you’re struggling to grow and know that x amount of followers will lead to more opportunities.

None of it is genuine but not everyone’s goal is to be genuine. Some people are more interested in the numbers and getting as many blogging/social media opportunities they can. If you’re not into that sort of thing, cool! However, if that’s what you’re into, I’d actually love to know more about what made you choose that option and how you feel about doing it.
